Beauty Without the Beast!

The Caribbean Classic Triathlon will be held on the beautiful Island of St. Croix on Nov. 16th, 2008.  The event will again held at the Buccaneer Hotel.  Click here for a map of the Buccaneer grounds.  The race was a huge success the past two years, and will remain an athlete favorite for years to come.

The race now features a Pro Prize Purse of $10,000.  It's a weekend of fun events including pre- and post-race functions.

The Olympic Distance race features one of the most stunning courses in the sport, and is open to VI residents as well as off island visitors.

Course Description

• Swim (1500 meters) (Map) - The two lap triangular course is held in the warm water of the Caribbean Sea, just off  the Buccaneer’s Mermaid Restaurant.

• Bike (40 K/25 Miles) (Map) - The picturesque two loop ride leaves the grounds of the hotel on the golf cart path, turns left and heads for the East End of St. Croix, makes a loop of Cramer’s Park, travels on the South Shore Rd over Lowry Hill, rides past the entrance of the Buccaneer, turns right at Southgate for another Lowry Hill loop, and re-enters the Buccaneer.

• Run (10K/6.2 Miles) (Map) - The two loop run will take place totally in the lush grounds of the Buccaneer.  The route travels along the jogging trail and golf course.

Saturday Nov. 15

• 2:30 - 4:30 pm - Race Bag Pick Up: The Buccaneer Terrace, The Buccaneer

• 5:00 - 6:00 pm - Cocktail Party @ the Mermaid Restaurant, The Buccaneer for all race participants and their families. Listen to Steel Pan Music and see/meet the other race participants.

Sunday Nov. 16

• 6:00 - 6:30 am - Transition Area opens - Bike Drop off and Body Marking, The Mermaid

• 6:30 am - Course Talk

• 7:00 am - Race Start

• 1:00 pm - Awards Party and Luncheon - The Buccaneer

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to Overall Male and Female winners, as well as age group winners.  There is also a Pro Prize Purse of $10,000.
